Heroes, antiheroes, and villains, oh my …

Hey everyone,

Today I wanted to talk about *waves wildly at the title of this post* heroes, antiheroes, and villains. Bet you didn’t see that coming, huh? Yeah, that’s what I thought. 😉 Anywho … let’s begin.

Eh-em. When I first began my published writing journey (We don’t acknowledge the before times. If I could get anyway with it I wouldn’t even acknowledge some of my previous books. I like to pretend they don’t exist. heh)

Oops, I got sidetracked.

Where was I? Yes, when I first began my published writing journey I did what I suspect a lot of authors do, they play it safe. Now, don’t get me wrong, I loved the characters I developed. Still do. But that was the thing, they were characters that would pretty much be likable by most people. The main characters were what would be considered heroes, or heroines, as the case is in these instances. I contintued down along that path for some time before I got bored, creatively speaking, and I dipped my toes into antihero territory. This was a bit more tricky, but overall went well. People liked these characters even if they kind of didn’t want to like them. Then I waded into what I like to call ‘villain light’ territory. But I still held back. I wanted to push these characters over the line into true villain territory. Yep, I was still playing it safe in some small way.

Aaaand along came Riss Wilde, the MC for the first book in my Wildes on the Hunt trilogy, Halfway Wicked. I didn’t even know she was going to be a villain when I first started writing her, and the next thing I knew, *boom* villain origin story. That’s right, Halfway Wicked is an urban fantasy/paranormal romance narrated by the villain. And readers will get to see her slowly stumble down the path to the darkside. (I think she heard they have cookies.) By the end of the book she is ready to make her villainous debut. *Whoot-whoot*

Finally one of my characters is going to steal some of the villainous fun for herself! 😀

Want to know more about Halfway Wicked? Well, you’re already in the right place since this is my website, but click >HERE< if you’re feeling lazy and don’t want to bother with the menu. The pre-order buy links are already available, and the book goes live August 10th.

Okay, so maybe I didn’t eeeexactly talk about heroes, antiheroes, and villains in the way I may have led you to believe I was going to, but come on, I was just looking for an excuse to say: “Hey! Hey, people! I finally wrote that villain I’ve been wanting to and you all need to know!” Although, I’m a tad worried that ‘once you write villain, you never go back’. Ugh. Guess that’s a problem for another day.

Welp, I guess that’s it for now. I’ve filled you all in aka shouted from the virtual rooftops about my girl Riss Wilde.

Until next time …

I love you guys! (Incase anyone is wondering why I didn’t include any gifs in this post like I usually do … Ummm … WordPress doesn’t seem to want to let me. Did I abuse my privilege or something? *Cries* It’s just not the same without them. My post looks utterly naked and boring. *cries turn to sobs*)

The Eclipsed is LIVE!!!

Today is the day.

Today is the day

goes LIVE!!!

And shit am I nervous. Even though this is the 25th full-length novel under my belt, it’s the first released under my new pen name Dara Kent. And it’s also my first non-romance novel. This release honestly feels like my first all over again. I want people to read my book, but I also don’t want people to read my book. I just … yeah, I think I might puke. Ugh.

I suppose this is where I should post the buy links. I almost forgot. Probably because a part of me, like I mentioned above, doesn’t want anyone to actually read this book. But I also don’t want people to not read this book. Mmm Hmm … I am a neurotic mess with all of this. I know, I know, it’s pretty obvious.

Ummm … Yep, again, that’s it for now. I think I might go hide under a rock for a bit.

Until next time …

I heart you gif

2020 update

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the roaring twenties …

Let’s hope this decade is better than the last. Onward and upward and all of that jazz. 😉

Now for the reason why I’m writing this post:

I finally have an update for all of you. (It’s about time, right?) I’m working on a standalone title called The Eclipsed. I’m hoping to have it wrapped up and ready to go into the editing process by the end of February. *fingers crossed on that one*

I’m very excited about this novel. Not only will it be the first title released under Dara Kent, but I have been letting my creativity run away with me on this one. In this case that’s a good thing … I think. heh.

I will have a less vague timeline for release stuff soon, I swear. I’m just excited I have any kind of booky news to share so I decided to do just that.

And now that I have …

Until next time …
